In the dead of night the military human resistance discovered a passageway into the heart of Manhattan - the new Columbus Circle sim. Initial reports confirm the accessibility of the Columbus Circle mall of shops, open fielded areas where vegetation is growing wildly making visibility difficult, and there are rumored reports of a pirate radio signal being picked up across the city.

The city itself is looking worse for wear as the battle continues to rage between the uninfected and the infected.

In other news, the I Am Legend: Survival first official tournament kicked off today, with six teams in the running to win real I Am Legend prizes. Here's the team rosters:

To help celebrate the opening of the fourth I Am Legend game sim "Columbus Circle", I Am Legend: Survival will be hosting a Squad Tourney in the game sims.
We've always attempted to make the gameplay in I Am Legend: Survival about cooperation and team tactics. We've seen several improptu "squads" showing up regularly to play together. We'd like to give an opportunity for the various teams in I Am Legend: Survival to compete at a different level.

Starting on November 30th when the sims reopen, competitors kills and deaths will effect their final score in the Tourney for the four days of the competition. Upon completion of the competition on Dec. 3rd when the sims close for the evening, team scores will be tabulated and first, second, and third place winners announced.

THE RULES:
In order to compete, you must register your team via notecard with Spider Mandala. Registration begins November 26th and ends November 29th. Registrion requires a notecard with the following information:

- Team Name
- Team Affiliation (uninfected or infected)
- Team Members names AND UUIDs

UUIDs are the unique key SL uses to identify avatars, items, and scripts. Your UUID is unique and is how scoring is tracked for IAL:S. You can use the Key Getter box from the followup group announcement (or contact Cory Edo or Spider Mandala for a copy) to get your UUID. UUIDs must be submitted with your tournament notecard or you will not be entered!

Instructions: rez the Key Getter inworld and click on it. It will give your name and your UUID in chat. Use Ctrl-H to bring up chat history, click and drag the line in chat with the UUID information, Ctrl-C to copy this information, and then Ctrl-V to paste it in your tournament notecard.

Teams must consist of four players, teams must consist of same faction (i.e. all infected or all uninfected). Teams can consist of different classes, i.e. darkseekers and infected dogs can comprise a team, or uninfected humans and police dogs can comprise a team, but darkseekers and police dogs cannot comprise a team.

All beginning scores will be recorded on November 29th when the sims are closed for the day. All finishing scores will be recorded on Dec 3rd when the game closes overnight.

All kills and deaths during the Tourney count. The final team score will be tabulated as follows: number of total team kills minus number of total team deaths equals total team score. This means the team sinks or swims together, if one player dies 20 times to ensure 21 kills for the team, that player will still win in the long run by assisting their team in their strategy. Likewise if a player goes solo and dies 20 times because he is alone, it will count against the team score for everyone. Cooperation and strategy are key to the tourney.

The tournament ends on Dec 3rd when the sims close for the evening. All scores will be tallied at that point and winners will be announced via group announcement and on the IAL:S blog. We will contact the winners directly to collect names/addresses for shipping information for prizes.

It should go without saying that NO cheating, exploits or abuse will be tolerated from any team or team member during the competition, we assume that if you are on a team you are a seasoned player and know the sims rules. We expect sportsmanship and a fair competition. If any member of a team is found to be exploiting cheating or abusing the system the players entire squad will be disqualified. Cheating judgement calls are made solely on the administrator's discretion and judgement and are final.

We will be giving out a bunch of prizes for our third, second, and first place winning teams.

A renewed effort against the Darkseeker menace has led the military to fund an additional Orientation Island, this one just outside Coney Island. New recruits through the website will go to the original Orientation Island south of Central Park - we're asking current Second Life residents and returning players to use the new Orientation 2 island when coming to play the game, unattaching/reattaching their gameplay HUD, and picking up updates.

To get to Orientation 2, just look up "I Am Legend" in the SL Search system and use the listing - it will take you right to Orientation 2.

A new area of New York City will be opening in I Am Legend: Survival on Friday, November 30th - Columbus Circle will join Central Park, Coney Island and Columbus Circle as the virus spreads across the city. New surprises, easter eggs, and a new terrain for gameplay are rumored to be found within this unexplored area - plus, don't be surprised if you see some old familiar locations suddenly looking a little worse for wear from the constant gunfire.

In order to prepare for this launch, the game will be closed all day on Thursday, November 29th, reopening Friday morning.

Here's some of the many cool costumes we saw at the I Am Legend: Survival Halloween Party! All guests got a free recreation of a Hamilton watch which beeps an alert when nighttime arrives. Thanks to everyone that took time out from saving the world to party with us!

To ensure the game has proper staff on hand to help anyone with questions or problems during gameplay, I Am Legend: Survival will be open the following hours starting Friday, November 2:

Open: 10AM Pacific Time (Second Life Time)

Close: Midnight Pacific Time (Second Life Time)

These hours are effective all week, Monday through Sunday.

Two new staffers will be available to answer questions and assist new players at the I Am Legend: Survival gameplay sims: Razzi Rockett (from 10AM to 5PM) and Sandling Honey (from 5PM to Midnight). Say hello when you see them at the Orientation Island!
